Manushi Chhillar Controversy
The head of the Congress, Shashi Tharoor, tried to be funny on Sunday by comparing the last name of Manushi Chhillar, the newly crowned Miss World 2017, to "loose change," but he failed. What a mistake demonetizing our money was! See, even our Chhillar has won Miss World! The BJP should have understood that Indian money rules the world," Tharoor tweeted. The Hindi term for loose change is "chillar."
Shashi Tharoor's pun was addressed by Manushi Chhillar, demonstrating her "serious chiller" status. A girl who just won the world championship isn't going to get offended over a tongue-in-cheek comment, Manushi Chhillar wrote in a tweet. Let's not overlook the "chill" that exists inside Chhillar; "Chillar" discourse is only a tiny alteration.
Shortly after posting his original statement, Tharoor went back to Twitter to clarify. Maybe the pun IS the lowest form of humour, and the multilingual pun is even lower, Shashi Tharoor tweeted. I apologise to everyone who seems to be rightfully outraged by today's humorous tweet. No harm was intended towards the intelligent young woman whose response I had previously appreciated. Please Calm Down!
