1. Introduction

Thank you for using PDF Reader ("we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

The App does not require you to create an account or submit any personal information directly to us.

b) Files Accessed on Your Device

The App requests permission to read PDF files stored on your device. This access is used solely to open, display, and navigate PDF documents within the App. We do not upload, transmit, or share any files or file contents with external servers.

c) Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences:

• Names and file locations (URIs) of recently opened PDF files (up to 5 entries)
• The last page you were reading for each recent file
• Timestamps of when files were last opened

This data never leaves your device and is used only to provide the "Recent Files" feature and to restore your last reading position.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. AdMob may collect and use certain information about your device to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:

• Device identifiers (such as Advertising ID)
• IP address and general location information
• App usage data and interaction with ads
• Device model, OS version, and language settings

4. Permissions Used

The App requests the following Android permissions:

• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 12 and below) — to allow you to browse and open PDF files stored on your device.
• READ_MEDIA_IMAGES (Android 13 and above) — required by the Android storage model to access files on newer OS versions.

These permissions are used only to read PDF files you explicitly select. We do not access any other files.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties, except as described in Section 3 (Google AdMob). No file content, personal information, or usage analytics are transmitted to our servers because we do not operate any servers or backend infrastructure.

6. Data Retention

All data stored by the App (recent file history, last page positions) is retained locally on your device until you uninstall the App or clear the App's data through your device settings. You can clear this data at any time via Settings > Apps > PDF Reader > Clear Data.

7. Children's Privacy

This App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Security

Since the App does not transmit any personal data to external servers, the risk of data interception is minimal. Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's own security mechanisms (screen lock, encryption, etc.).

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
